- Messaging
- Clarify the audience, value proposition, offer hierarchy and language before writing individual pages.
- Visual identity
- Develop a coherent system of mark, color, type and usage that works in real applications.
- Application
- Apply an established identity consistently to a website or content system without assuming a rename.

Make the business easier to recognize and understand.
Messaging and visual identity are different jobs. Start with the part making the offer unclear or inconsistent.

Choose the problem before replacing the identity

Keep discovery grounded in the business
Identify the audience, real offer, recognizable assets, customer language and practical use cases. A brief should explain what must stay as clearly as what can change. A naming or domain change is a separate decision.

Separate words, visuals and applications
Hypothetical planning specimen. It explains the decisions and checks to agree; it is not a completed customer deliverable or a fixed offer.
| Need | Explore | Inputs / output | Exclusion / approval |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unclear audience or value | Messaging | Business evidence → proposition, hierarchy, voice and named applications | Full site copy, visual design, renaming and legal clearance separately scoped. |
| Inconsistent visual assets | Identity | Approved positioning/assets/uses → specified marks, palette/type and guide/files | Validate designer/partner, rights and actual available scope. |
| Practical rollout | Website application | Approved assets and exact touchpoints → separate implementation scope | Naming can stay; website production is not automatically included. |
If the message is already agreed and individual pages need writing: Compare settled-offer copywriting

Judge a proposed deliverable in use
Review the message hierarchy or identity on representative applications, not only a logo on an idealized mockup. Check readability, reproduction, flexibility and whether the business can use the delivered assets.
05 / Service hub
Agree rights and revisions early
Specify source and export formats, usage guidance, revisions and the rights attached to original and licensed elements. Do not assume a font or stock asset becomes exclusively owned by commissioning a design.

Make rollout practical
Inventory the website, profiles, documents and other applications. Approve the new system and transition sequence before replacing existing assets. Your existing business name and established assets can stay; renaming is a separate decision and scope.

Agree the inputs, effort and boundary
Use these work variables to compare a written scope. They are not a price list, payment policy or authorization to purchase tools, media or services.
| Buyer question | Scope answer to agree |
|---|---|
| What will I receive? | A separately assessed messaging or visual-identity scope with named outputs |
| What do I need to supply? | Existing assets/name, audience, words-versus-visual problem, intended uses and approver |
| What changes the effort and cost? | Research, actual designer/partner arrangement, concepts, applications, revisions, file delivery and rights |
| What needs separate scope or is excluded? | Automatic renaming, full-site copy/build, legal clearance and availability of an unverified specialist |
| How will completion and support be defined? | Identify the reviewer, actual test evidence, known limits and handover. Any recurring allowance, fees, cancellation and response arrangement need their own written terms. |
To keep the deliverable and finish line reviewable: Review the acceptance and handover checkpoints

Define the specialist fit before committing
Describe the inconsistency, the materials in use and the decisions you need to make. A branding scope needs relevant samples, capability and a clear delivery agreement.
